The Getting Healthy Fight

Everybody’s main priority lately appears to be loosing weight. Whether that is because the massive obesity epidemic or because Hollywood says we should, we can’t be sure. What we do know is that you cannot loose weight with the snap of a finger. You can go from eating carryout one day to being a size 4 the next. Yes, you have to throw away those paper bags full of French fries, but it will take more than that. You have to replace it with paper sacks form home full of health food, and an exercise regime. You can’t expect to see a difference in just one week. You can lose weight in a week, but it might take a little while. Diet drugs and special mixes won’t be a magical fix. Everything worth getting takes time and hard work.

The first piece of advice for losing weight is to believe in yourself. Being unmotivated and having a bad perspective will keep you from succeeding. Loosing weight is personal, you have to do it because you want to. If you are negative towards yourself and don’t think you will be able to do it, you won’t be able to. The little train who could should be everyone’s biggest role model when trying to loose weight. If you are doubting yourself, you just need to tell yourself that you are capable and can do it. After overcoming an obstacle you grow and become stronger.

In addition, you can’t beat yourself up when loosing weight. You may be motivated by cruel thoughts, but that wont last in the long run. You should want to loose weight to be healthy and happy. You will loose more weight if you tell yourself that you are beautiful no matter what. You will give up if you have a terrible self esteem because you will never be happy with yourself. If you tell yourself you look good, you will only feel better when working out and eating right, which will keep you going!

There are a few ways to beat the dreaded weight loss plateau. Adjusting your caloric intake is one way. Vy lowering it, you are changing the amount you body has adjusted to needing. However raising it also may help because if you lost a significant amount of weight and burn enough calories than your body is in “starvation mode”. Starvation mode happens when your body is loosing so many calories it thinks you are malnourished. So, it may be ironic but you may need to eat more to loose more.
Loosing weight shouldn’t run your life or cause you lots of extra stress. Ultimately, your body knows where it wants to be, so you can’t push it to oar beyond that.
